Quick Curl Barbie Restoration
This Quick Curl Barbie came from eBay for a steal. Through the dirt, it wasn’t quite clear she was a QC doll. Sadly her hair is cut at the front so I may end up re-rooting her. She took three baths to come clean!
Barbie 1973 Best Buy Fashion #3208
This is the 1973 Barbie Best Buy Fashion #3208 as modelled by Quick Curl Barbie. The outfit consists of orange twill pantsuit with an attached psychedelically patterned halter top in jersey material. I purchased the outfit in the saleroom of the Madrid Fashion Doll Convention 2016. It was being worn by the European exclusive Funtime Barbie. However, I felt the Quick Curl Barbie would be a better model to represent this 1973 outfit. The purple shoes, which complete the ensemble were given to me by Thomas, a fabulously generous Facebook friend.
Barbie 1979 Best Buy Fashion #2777
This is another MIP 1979 Superstar Era Best Buy Fashion #2777. It consists of a short playsuit in a woven striped fabric of rust, navy, yellow, and ecru. I nabbed this from eBay also and again it cost £5.00.
Barbie 1979 Best Buy Fashion #2776
The Barbie Best Buy Fashion #2776 was released in 1979 and is from the Superstar Barbie Era. It consists of a floral patterned strapless dress with an elasticated waist and a gathered upper top. I bagged a MIP example from eBay for £5.00. The packet includes a booklet and on the back there are photo instructions on how to correctly dress your precious Barbie doll.
French Sweet 16 Barbie Ad, 1974
This is a lovely Frech Ad from 1964 celebrating our favourite doll’s birthday and the Sweet 16 Barbie Doll that came out in 1974.
French Barbie Ad 1973
This is a great example of a vintage French magazine advertisement from 1973. It features the Quick Curl Dolls, Mod Ken, Busy Barbie and 3 of the Best Buys Outfits, plus beautiful graphics!
Best Buy Fashion #9622
This is the Barbie Best Buy Fashion #9622 from 1977. The outfit consists of a white tricot turtleneck blouse with a blue vest and a diagonally striped long tricot skirt. This outfit coordinates with Skipper’s Best Buy Outfit #9710. I bought this one loose from eBay. I gently cleaned and freshened it but there is still some slight staining on the white blouse front and sleeves. I also repaired the press stud at the back of the dress at the waist.
Quick Curl Dolls – Barbie, Francie & Kelley
I love the Quick Curl dolls and this is a page from the 1973 booklet featuring the three main dolls in the line. Very hand too as it shows their product numbers.
#7805 Barbie Beach Bus
I don’t have the beach bus but the colours inspired the colours I used here on the blog. Plus I love the box styling!
Quick Curl Barbie French Advertisement
I love this French Ad for Quick Curl Barbie. It illustrates the different hair styles you can achieve with the doll. As my Quick Curl didn’t come with her instructions it is great to have a glimpse of them here. Even if my French isn’t all that!
Quick Curl Barbie Doll #4220 1973-1976
My collection began when I managed to snaffle a mint Quick Curl Barbie doll from eBay. She came with bagged accessories and her wrist tag still, just about, in place (it fell off soon after!) Her hair is in the original set too. I still had to clean her up a little and freshen her gown.
